During the summer of 2005 I had the opportunity to photograph an old power plant in Key West, Florida. It had stood unused but intact for many years and was being gutted for conversion to condominiums. Over the course of several months the demolition crew extracted the contents- turbines, tanks, pipes, wire, and conduit. Salt spray from an early hurricane caused some of the equipment to rust and corrode in brilliant colors. Clad in boots, jeans and hard hat, I photographed when weather and demolition schedule permitted.
